This collection of sunsets were all photographed at the same location on different days. It highlights how you can return to the same place repeatedly with changes in weather, seasons, or time of day and experience new things to photograph.
This was photograph was taken just after a September sunset near Green Lake, Wisconsin. This is the horizontal composition companion to the vertical composition which is Jupiter's Palette. Even on a cloudy day you can get very colorful sunsets. The final rays of the sun over the horizon leave orange pastel colors across the sky.
The setting sun interacts with the clouds just to the left. If you look closely, you can see the light rays interacting with the cloud's edges. An August sunset captured near Green Lake, Wisconsin.
A May sunset taken near Green Lake, Wisconsin. Compared to some other sunsets taken at this location, this one is very vibrant. With heavy cloud cover and only a narrow opening for sunlight to breakthrough, the sky is ablaze at the horizon, but cooler color tones dominate everywhere else including the foreground which is a much darker and richer green.
