On this visit to Washington Island in Door County the waves were too large for the ferry transport to Rock Island State Park. That did not dissuade this Kite Surfer from riding the surf in the straights between Washington Island and Rock Island.
Without access to Rock Island this day, I took the opportunity to photograph this kite surfer in action from the shores of Jackson Harbor. This also gave me a good opportunity to make use of my 100-400 mm lens.
As the kite surfer picks up speed he glides over the waves.

After a tumble, the kite surfer is waiting for his kite to catch the wind and pull him up out of the water.
