Whitefish Dunes State Park is in Door County, Wisconsin. This State Park is unique in that it has a park inside a park. Cave Point County Park is located inside the State Park's boundaries. Since county parks are open to the public without passes or fees, you can drive through the State Park to visit the county park without needing a visitor pass. This collection of landscape photographs focuses on the various sand dunes that can be found inside the park while walking the hiking trails. These include the dunes along the shores of Lake Michigan to forest dunes, and board walk paths up and down inland dunes.

On this trip I had rented the Sigma 14mm DG HSM Art lens to do some testing and get a feel for what wide angle lens I would want to purchase for myself. One of the downsides to this lens is it is very heavy. So, I intentionally brought it with me on this short hike just to see what it might be like carrying it around for long distances. This photo is right about at the end of that hike before turning around and heading back. Even at this point I realized the weight was an issue. I enjoyed shooting with the lens and it performs well, but it was simply too heavy for me to realistically use.
